In the FKF Premier League's ninth round Gor Mahia aims for redemption while AFC Leopards seeks an escape promising thrilling football encounters.

As the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) enters its ninth round football enthusiasts are in for a treat with eight exciting matches set to take place on Wednesday 1st of November 2023.

The stage is set for a series of thrilling encounters, but perhaps none more anticipated than Gor Mahia hosting a resurgent Shabana, while AFC Leopards prepare to welcome Kariobangi Sharks in a bid to climb out of the relegation zone.

Gor Mahia is determined to secure a win after a recent one-all draw against Bidco United, where they narrowly missed out on victory.

The record league champions, sitting second in the league, are hungry for those crucial three points.

However, beyond the points, pride will be on the line, as Shabana FC has brought a substantial and passionate fanbase with them, mirroring the enthusiasm of Gor Mahia's supporters.

Johnathan McKinstry, the head coach of Gor Mahia, is optimistic about his team's performance but is well aware that Shabana will come to the match with a fighting spirit.

"We're expecting them to come fighting back. The minimum people expect when you've had a bad result is to come out to play with pride and passion," said the Irishman.

Aside from the Gor Mahia showdown, AFC Leopards is also gearing up for a significant match as they host Kariobangi Sharks at the Ulinzi Sports Complex.

Leopards find themselves in a precarious position in the league, having collected only four points from eight games this season.

Their last victory against the Slum Boys dates back to January 15, 2022, and they are determined to reverse the trend. Kariobangi Sharks, on the other hand, come into this fixture with confidence, having recently beaten Kakamega Homeboyz and securing a 1-1 draw against Muhoroni Youth.

Tusker FC, another formidable team in the league, is set to host Ulinzi Stars in what promises to be a highly anticipated clash.

As the day kicks off, Bidco United will take on Muhoroni Youth at Kasarani Annex, while FC Talanta welcomes Nzoia Sugar FC for an early 1pm kick-off.

Bandari FC squares off against Police FC at Mabarki Stadium, and Muranga Seal is prepared to face Nairobi City Stars. Later in the day, Tusker FC will entertain Ulinzi Stars at Ruaraka, and KCB will battle Sofapaka at Kasarani Annex.

However, the most eagerly anticipated match of the day will undoubtedly be the showdown between Shabana and Gor Mahia at the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani. This match has all the makings of a classic encounter, with both teams eager to secure victory.

Kakamega Homeboyz versus Posta Rangers will be the sole fixture on Thursday, offering fans one more thrilling showdown to look forward to.
