Frank Lampard said he did not learn anything new being Chelsea boss for the second time that all he did was approach the job like a firefighter.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has stated that he did not learn anything new on his second stint as manager of the club.

The former Everton manager has won one out of the last ten games since he became manager for the Blues.

The West London club were thrashed by Manchester United 4-1 at Old Trafford in their penultimate game of the season.

The English manager seems not to be too concerned about the difficult times and has said that his second spell was a firefighting approach.

Lampard was quoted by Daily Mail:

“If you ask me what I have learned in this short period, in terms of coaching, not so much. I think that if we have not got that base of things, then formations are not as important,' Lampard told reporters.

“I've been in in this situation as a player when you have an interim after a change of manager. A lot of the plus points you gain are about what is the team fighting for, can you find that extra bit? And we haven't found that as a collective, the results say so.

'This job is always going to challenge you at different times. I am certainly not the victim in this moment. I love working for this club and that has not changed from the moment that I came back here,' the head coach was quick to add.

“Have I learned much from the football side? As I say, I think I did when I was here before and I did at Everton. But during this period, it has been more about what I have walked into and what I have seen, and that has been very different for me.”

Chelsea go into their last game of the season against Newcastle at Stamford Bridge and will be looking to end the season on a high.
