The defensive midfielder is leaving the Georgia-based club after the expiry of his two-year contract.
Former Gor Mahia midfielder Tobias Otieno has bid farewell to US League One side South Georgia Tormenta FC following the end of his two-year contract.
Otieno was among 11 out of contract players that the club opted against including in their 2024 roster and departs despite a stellar campaign for Tormenta FC.
The former Sony Sugar midfielder was voted the club’s Player of the Month for October, having been in contention for the May and June gongs but that was not enough to convince the Georgia-based side to extend his stay.

The Kenyan midfielder has come an instant fan favourite following his impressive displays that have earned him comparisons with club legends
“It's been two seasons shared with amazing organization, staff, teammates and fans. Learnt a lot and made memories that I'll forever cherish. Thank you, Tormenta FC,” Otieno posted on his Instagram page.
The 25-year-old defensive midfielder made 29 appearances for Tormenta FC in the 2023 season when he scored two goals and provided as many assists with the club finishing seventh in League One on 42 points, missing out on the playoffs by just one point.
Prior to joining Tormenta FC, Otieno helped Union Omaha win its first USL League One title in the club history.
During the 2021 campaign, Otieno played 1,529 minutes in 25 matches, resulting in two goals and three assists. On November 20, 2021, the midfielder scored a stoppage-time goal to help seal Omaha’s championship title win 3-0 just three minutes after entering the fixture.
Prior to Omaha, Otieno played in the Kenyan Premier League for two seasons as one of the league’s youngest starters, gaining experience in the CAF Confederation Cup and the CAF Champions League with Gor Mahia who he signed for from Sony Sugar.
Tormenta FC seem to have started preparing for life after Otieno following the signing of French Ivorian midfielder Tavio D’Almeida as a free agent on a two-year contract this week.
