Dillian Whyte and Jermaine Franklin represented England and USA ahead of the World Cup clash between the two sides

Lionel Messi continues preparation for Argentina's next group game against Mexico at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Messi scored the only goal for Argentina from the penalty spot as Argentina suffered a 2-1 loss to Saudi Arabia in their group opener.

Ahead of the match, Messi took to social media to pay tribute to Argentine legend Diego Maradona.

Messi's tribute to Maradona

Maradona was hospitalized and went through brain surgery before he passed away on November 25, 2020.

To celebrate the second year remembered of the death of Maradona, Messi posted a picture of the Argentine football icon on his official Instagram story.

In the picture, Maradona who led Argentina to the 1986 World Cup is wearing the iconic number 10 jersey that now belongs to Messi.

At the pre-match press conference, Argentina boss Lionel Scaloni paid tribute to Maradona.

He said, “It's a very sad day for the whole world for Diego's anniversary. We hope tomorrow to bring him joy if he's looking at us from heaven. It still seems unbelievable that he's not here anymore.”

Ahead of the clash against Mexico Scaloni also gave an update on the health status of star player Messi.

“I don’t know who spread that rumor, Messi is fine more than ever. On a physical and moral level. It was never in doubt, he has no problem,” he added.

Argentina takes on Mexico in their second group game scheduled for Saturday, November 26, 2022.

British professional boxer Dillian Whyte is set to return to the ring against American Jermaine Franklin.

It will be the first fight for Whyte since he was knocked out by Tyson Fury in front of 90,000 fans at Wembley.

Whyte was the WBC mandatory challenger for Fury a position that took him years to attain.

Following the defeat, Whyte has been on the journey to limb up among the top heavyweight contenders.

He now returns against Franklin one of the rising stars in the heavyweight division from the USA.

At the weigh-in, for the fight, Whyte wore an England jersey while Franklin represent the USA.

The USA are set to face off against England in a matchday two group B fixture at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Whyte and Franklin decided to represent their respective countries with home jerseys ahead of the match but also to hype up the fight.

Speaking at the weigh-in, Whyte explained that he is still a threat in the hevayweight division despite the loss to Fury.

He said,  “I still have time and I am still young enough to correct the mistakes and stand in there and have a very good chance of being a world heavyweight champion.”

Franklin on the other hand is eager to take on Whyte and silence the home crowd in London.

He said,  “This is my chance to show that I can go toe-to-toe with any heavyweight in the world. I am coming to finish him, so he better not be looking past me.”

While the USA battles England a day earlier Whyte will take on  Franklin at the OVO Arena, Wembley on Saturday, November 26, 2022.
