The Dutch international is being courted by the English side.

Jurrien Timber is close to agreeing on a contract with Arsenal, with a €45 million move likely, according to reports.

The Gunners are said to have advanced in talks with their summer target, and the 22-year-old is set to agree on a move to the Emirates.

The defender has reportedly agreed on an €8 million-a-year contract, and the London club hopes to finalise a €45 million fee with Ajax to conclude the transfer.

An initial fee of about €35 million was rejected by the Eredivisie outfit, which initially demanded €60 million for the defender. Reports indicate that talks between the clubs are advancing well, with Arsenal hoping to pay up between €40 and €50 million to seal the deal.

The defender is said to be keen on a move to Arsenal, although he has been linked with Liverpool and Manchester United too.

The only hurdle remaining is an agreement on a fee between Arsenal and Ajax, and reports indicate that discussions over a €45 million move are underway and that a deal could get the green light from the Dutch giants.

Further reports state that personal terms were broadly agreed upon between the Premier League club and their summer target. It is said that Should Timber join the Emirates club, he will earn around €8 million a year and possibly sign a long-term deal.

He is considered an essential player by Mikel Arteta, who wants a right-sided and versatile defender for different positions. In Timber, the Gunners could land the ideal player they have been looking for.
