You wouldn’t know it from the way he celebrated his cracking goal against Real Madrid in a recent friendly, but Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele has reportedly agreed to a five-year contract with French giants Paris Saint-Germain.
Dembele set for PSG move
Dembele opened the scoring in the Blaugrana’s 3-0 win over Real Madrid on Saturday, one day after PSG reportedly activated the Frenchman’s €50 million release clause, leaving him with the final say on his future club.
It has now been reported that Dembele has decided his club future by choosing to join PSG in a sensational summer move from Spain.
According to transfer specialist, Fabrizio Romano, Dembele has agreed to a five-year contract with the Ligue 1 side, and his departure from Barcelona is imminent.
Dembele set to dump Barcelona for PSG
Dembele signed a new deal with Barcelona just last season on reduced wages after a tense negotiation with the club, and had been in the process of extending his Blaugrana contract before the offer from PSG came in.
Due to the nature of Dembele’s Barcelona contract, the Frenchman will be expected to receive half of his transfer fee after waiving a signing bonus last season when he penned a new contract with the LaLiga side.
Dembele’s career at Barcelona since joining the Catalans in a €135 million deal from Borussia Dortmund has been full of ups and downs, as the forward has sandwiched glimpses of brilliance between long injury spells and inconsistent form.
Still only 26, the Frenchman could still be a huge loss to Barcelona as he enters the peak of his powers as a PSG player.
