Super Eagles forward Samuel Chukwueze has vowed to get better after an impressive showing against Real Madrid

Super Eagles forward Samuel Chukwueze has vowed to keep improving after his sensational display, which earned Villarreal a famous victory over Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu. 

Chukwueze having the best season of his career

Chukwueze put in a man-of-the-match performance, scoring a brace against the LaLiga giants to bring his total tally for this season to 13 goals and 11 assists in 40 appearances for the Yellow Submarine in all competitions. 

Despite the impressive numbers, his most productive in a single European campaign, the 23-year-old forward believes that he can still get better and hopes to improve on his performances in the future.

Chukwueze was unplayable against Real Madrid, giving a reminder of how devastating he can be as a forward when tasked with making the difference in the final third. 

He scored two stunning goals against Los Blancos in their own stadium including a late winner that left his teammates in awe at the quality of the strike. 

Speaking to Movistar after the game, Chukwueze described the goal as "crazy."

In helping Villarreal to a crucial victory, he became the first player from the Yellow Submarines to score a brace at the Santiago Bernabeu since Uruguayan legend Diego Forlan managed the feat in 2006.

Not wanting to rest on his oars, the Super Eagles forward promised that there was still more to come from him and that he would be looking to get better in the future. 

“The future will be much better,” Chcukwueze said, before continuing, “I have to improve. It’s a dream to score that goal and to win here.”

Chukwueze led Villarreal’s dressing room celebrations as the Yellow Submarines poked fun at Real Madrid’s popular El Clasico dressing room video after beating Los Blancos 3-2 in the dramatic LaLiga encounter. 

Following the victory at the Bernabeu, Villarreal celebrated wildly in the dressing room and had a moment of fun with their own rendition of Real Madrid’s popular “tomorrow is a day off” celebration, which they did after beating Barcelona 4-0 in the second leg of the Copa del Rey semifinal.
