Victor Osimhen could be on his way to a permanent move to Galatasaray this summer

Galatasaray’s hierarchy believes that their record-breaking Nigerian marksman may be going nowhere this summer.

Vice-president İbrahim Hatipoğlu says the odds of Victor Osimhen remaining in Istanbul climb “with each passing day.”

Growing optimism for Osimhen

According to Hatipoğlu, Osimhen arrived almost by accident. Speaking to AS via TMW, the Galatasaray vice president said, “When they offered us Osimhen, we did not need a striker, but we signed him in two days.”

That gamble paid off spectacularly: 37 goals and eight assists in 41 outings, plus a league-and-cup double that reignited the club’s European ambitions.

Now, Hatipoğlu insists the forward is edging closer to extending his stay, adding, “Abdullah Kavukcu, head of transfers, is handling the process alongside Italian agent George Gardi. With each passing day, the chances of Osimhen staying at Galatasaray increase.”

Crucially, Osimhen has already turned down a reported €35 million-a-year package from Simone Inzaghi’s Al-Hilal, signalling sporting priorities over pure financial gain, an encouraging sign for Gala fans.

Contract clauses and Napoli’s dilemma

Technically, the Super Eagles star is tied to Napoli until 2026, with the Serie A champions holding an option to tack on another year.

However, his €75 million release clause applies only to clubs outside Italy, shielding Galatasaray from direct domestic competition but leaving a clear fee for European or Saudi suitors.

Napoli would prefer a definitive sale to avoid a contract standoff, yet their rigid pricing narrows the field of realistic buyers.

For Galatasaray, that clarity, combined with Osimhen’s happiness in Istanbul, creates a perfect opening to negotiate either a renewed loan or a structured permanent deal.
