'But i'm Italian, don't forget that' - Carlo Ancelotti speaks on Brazil's new form

Brazil's national team has seen a significant turnaround in both results and performance since Carlo Ancelotti took the helm.

The 66-year-old Italian coach has guided the Seleção to three consecutive clean sheets in their 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

It's been three and a half years since Brazil last managed at least three consecutive matches without conceding a goal.

In the spring of 2022, under coach Tite, the Auriverde squad secured 4-0 victories in their 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Paraguay, Chile, and Bolivia.

What Carlo Ancelotti said

After Carlo Ancelotti concluded his second stint at Real Madrid and replaced by Dorival Junior (having previously done the same with Fernando Diniz and Ramon Menezes).

Brazil has collected seven points, mathematically securing their spot in the final tournament in the USA, Mexico, and Canada. This includes victories against Paraguay (1-0) and Chile (3-0), and a 0-0 draw with Ecuador in the Italian's debut match.

Spanish sports daily MARCA, via Abola, noted Ancelotti has built a "wall" in Brazil, recalling his humorous remark from June: "I'm Italian, don't forget that!" And Don Carlo has certainly delivered.

After conceding 16 goals in their previous 14 matches, Brazil will aim to extend their clean sheet streak in their upcoming expedition to Bolivia, at an altitude of 4,150 meters.

Should he succeed, Carlo Ancelotti will also break a record: no coach in Seleção history has kept a clean sheet in their first four official matches! "We must continue on this path. Because I am convinced that if we've managed three clean sheets, we have a good chance to win the upcoming matches," assured the former Real Madrid coach.

The Italian explained his winning formula: "We had a compact team that defended well. Individual quality makes the difference. When you defend well, it's because the entire team is defending. Modern football is in the hands of the attackers. If the attackers do their job, the team defends well."
