At least ten candidates have made a move for the vacant Super Eagles head coach position, signalling a keen interest in leading the Nigerian national football team.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) announced last week the search for a new coach after the departure of Portuguese tactician Jose Peseiro, as reported by Pulse Sports.
Jose Peseiro led the Super Eagles team to the runner-up spot at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

Siasia and Salisu’s interest despite bad record
The controversial duo of Samson Siasia and Salisu Yusuf have also joined the race for the head coach position.
Siasia was found guilty of accepting an offer to receive bribes in an attempt to manipulate the outcome of matches.

Siasia, despite being under a FIFA ban, remains hopeful, stating, "I hope the NFF will consider my application."
Salisu Yusuf on the other hand was involved in a bribery scandal in 2018 after being caught on video accepting bribes from an undercover reporter.

Salisu Yusuf, with a tainted record, expressed his desire to redeem himself, saying, "I am ready to prove my worth and contribute to the success of the Super Eagles."
Other notable contenders include former Cameroon national team head coach Antonio Conceicao, who aims to replicate his past successes, and Daniel Amokachi, a former Super Eagles assistant coach. "I am eager to lead the Super Eagles to greater heights," Conceicao asserted.
Top Contenders Showcase Strong Interest
Former Barcelona winger Emmanuel Amunike leads the pack of contenders, highlighting his illustrious playing and coaching career as credentials for the role.
"I am among the first to submit my application," Amunike stated confidently, banking on his successes at various levels of football.

Also vying for the position are Michael Nsien, the current coach of the United States U19 team, and Sylvanus Okpala, a former assistant coach for the Super Eagles. "I have submitted my application, and I am ready for the challenge," Nsien affirmed.
Ndubuisi Egbo, the first Nigerian coach to clinch a league title in Europe, expressed his interest, stating, as reported by Soccernet, "I am also interested in the vacant position," highlighting his achievements in Albania.
Former Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh and George Finidi, who recently guided Enyimba FC to a league title have also expressed their interest in the position.
"I am keen on taking up the challenge and bringing my expertise to the Super Eagles," Oliseh remarked.
