Arsenal are discussing a move for Brentford goalkeeper David Raya to provide competition for first-choice Aaron Ramsdale according to reports.

The Gunners have identified the Spaniard as a possible backup and are looking to sign him before the end of the transfer window.

Bayern Munich are also interested in the Brentford goalkeeper and have held talks over a possible loan for Raya.

However, the Gunners have entered the race for his signature and have begun discussion with Brentford according to reports.

Raya on Arsenal radar

The Gunners are reportedly discussing a possible move with Brentford for David Raya but are yet to make an offer.

Raya has previously stated that he wants to leave the team in pursuit of trophies, thus Brentford is holding out for their £40 million valuation of him.

According to David Ornstein on Twitter via The Athletics, “Arsenal are exploring a deal to sign Brentford goalkeeper David Raya.

"No bid yet but #BrentfordFC aware of interest. “#FCBayern also pursuing but 27yo keen to join #AFC. #NFFC considering Matt Turner; gap in valuations but dialogue ongoing @TheAthleticFC.”

Raya would fit right in at Arsenal with Mikel Arteta's style of play thanks to his distributing abilities.

But if he joined Arsenal, he'd have to decide if he'd play enough, and the Gunners would have to consider their budgetary limitations.

Arsenal looking to let Matt Turner leave

The Athletic claims that Nottingham Forest is interested in acquiring Matt Turner, the current backup goalkeeper for Arsenal.

Although there is still a discrepancy in valuations for a Turner purchase, talks are still ongoing.

Arsenal signed Turner last summer from New England Revolution but didn't feature in any Premier League game last season.

The 29-year-old is yet to make an appearance for Arsenal during preseason play after representing the USA at the Gold Cup.
