Tobi Amusan and Rosemary Chukwuma smashed their lifetime bests at Tom Jones Invitational in Florida.

Nigeria's duo of Tobi Amusan and Rosemary Chukwuma recorded brilliant times in the women's 100m events, racing to lifetime bests at the Tom Jones Invitational in Florida.

Amusan, fresh from her 100m Hurdles race, clocked a Personal Best (PB) of 11.10s (1.6) to finish third behind race winner Kiara Grant in 10.99s and Mala McCoy in 11.08s.

The Nigerian world champion ran the race fresh from finishing second behind former world champion Nia Ali, who clocked a Season's Best (SB) of 12.53s ahead of Amusan's 12.59s.

Despite the losses, Amusan can take a lot of positives from the meet. Her new 100m PB is faster than her time of 11.15s last year, which proved to be a good marker for her season, and ended up breaking the 100m Hurdles World Record (WR) in Oregon.

If she's running faster in the 100m flat now, it only bodes for another fantastic or perhaps iconic season that lies ahead as she prepares to successfully defend her world title come August.

Chukwuma threatens Alfred with a fast time in 100m race

Rosemary Chukwuma ran an excellent race in the college race of the women's 100m, chasing NCAA's best sprinter at the moment Julien Alfred to the finish line in a time of 10.85s, behind Alfred's 10.72s (2.4).

The Nigerian speedster is the first athlete to race that close to Alfred this season, which will be a huge confidence boost for the Texas Tech sprinter after an awkward ending to the indoor season.

Though the time is wind-aided, it's Chukwuma's fastest time in all wind conditions, improving on her 10.88s from last season. She is now one to sternly put eyes on as she can be the one to challenge Alfred for a big upset this season.
