Ezinne Abba and Rosemary Chukwuma are through to the finals in their respective events at the BIG 12 Indoor Championships.

Nigeria's duo of Ezinne Abba and Rosemary Chukwuma have qualified for the 60m and 200m finals at the BIG 12 Indoor Championships on Saturday.

Abba donning the colours of her school the University of Texas, was in exceptional form running massive Personal Best (PB) times in her qualifying heats.

Ezinne Abba clocked brilliant PBs at the BIG 12 Indoor Championships

She first clocked 7.19s, lowering her PB by 0.01s to make the final. Then ran a massive PB of 22.99s in her 200m heat to finish second and go through.

The time makes her the fourth African female sprinter in indoor history to go under the 23s mark, making her fourth fastest in the African all-time list.

Consequently, Chukwuma also got the job done for her school Texas Tech University, by winning her 60m heat in 7.16s for the second-fastest time overall. Her mark was only surpassed by in-form Julien Alfred, who clocked a blazing 7.03s.

Alfred is the favourite to win the title as she's the collegiate record holder with 7.00s. It is expected she'll go faster than this in the final, having Chukwuma push her all the way.

In the 200m, Chukwuma ran a modest 23.30s to win her heat. She understandably saved her energy for the final, where she will go all out with Alfred and Abba for the title.
