The Atalanta-Lecce match has been postponed due to the sudden death of Lecce physiotherapist Graziano Fiorita, meaning Ademola Lookman must wait for his goal drought to end.

Atalanta’s scheduled Serie A clash against Lecce on Friday night is set to be postponed following the tragic death of Lecce’s long-serving physiotherapist, Graziano Fiorita.

Lecce announced on Thursday that Fiorita, who had been with the club for over 20 years, passed away suddenly during the team’s training camp in Coccaglio.

In a statement on their website, via Football Italia, Lecce expressed profound sorrow:

“U.S. Lecce is deeply upset to announce that Graziano Fiorita has suddenly passed away. The physiotherapist, who has been in the Giallorossi ranks for over 20 years, was with the first-team at the Coccaglio training camp.”

Ademola Lookman improved but may not be in action this weekend.

The club confirmed that the team will return to Lecce immediately and expects that the match against Atalanta will be postponed.

This development means Nigeria’s star forward Ademola Lookman will have to wait to break his goal drought.

The 27-year-old, who has gone seven matches without scoring for Atalanta and the Super Eagles, was in lively form during his last outing against AC Milan in the Europa League.

Fans will now look to the rescheduled fixture for Lookman to rediscover his scoring touch.
