Novak Djokovic can look forward to preparing and competing at the US Open, after the US Senate passed vote on Covid-19 restrictions.
Novak Djokovic will finally set his feet on US soil after the US senate voted to lift Covid-19 measures on Wednesday, which gives him the clearance to play at the US Open this summer.
The US government had set stiff Covid measures during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, in which international visitors were mandated to show proof of vaccination before entering the country, and Djokovic refused to take the vaccine.

The world No.2, who has not entered or played in America since losing the 2021 US Open final, also missed out on playing at the tournament in 2022 and the Sunshine Double the same year.
In January, Djokovic submitted all necessary documentation requesting to enter the United States and play at the Indiana Wells and Miami Open, but his requests were not granted.

The Serbian won his 22nd major title on Sunday, leading to suggestions that he may be the greatest player to ever play the game.
He will later withdraw from the Indian Wells and ongoing Miami Open, causing him to lose his world No.1 spot to Carlos Alcaraz after winning the 2023 Australian Open title.
However, this has now changed as the senate has voted to pass a bill that ends the vaccination measures. The vote means the agencies in the US will start winding down Covid measures, paving the way for Djokovic to take part in the US Open later this year
