Bayelsa State Governor Senator Douye Diri declares the game open
The first edition of the Bayelsa Sports Festival has been declared open by the state governor, Senator Douye Diri.
The State Sports Festival was tagged “Access Bank Prosperity Unity Games” and witnessed a colorful opening ceremony from the participants.
The festival will feature 240 team officials, 140 technical officials, and 194 officiating officials across the fourteen sports battling for 293 gold, 293 silver, and 387 bronze medals.
Pulse Sports reports that the Festival will be held from March 25 to April 1st.
Governor Diri urges Athletes to be sportsmanship
Governor Diri urged athletes to follow the example of unity set forth by the State Sports Festival by following the fiesta's guidelines.

He stated that the festival is another significant success of his administration in the field of sports growth.

The championship serves off on May 24 and will end on May 27 at the Eko Club, Surulere, Lagos.
The Governor emphasized that the National Sports Festival's creators understood the unifying potential of sports in Bayelsa and that it was one of the measures put in place in the wake of the civil war to restore the social fabric of the country and to advance the common destiny of the people.
While appreciating the sponsors Access Bank, the governor asserted that the only way to Prosperity was to have a sound health, and that the best medicine for prosperity is through sports development.

The State helmsman appreciated his deputy senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development Daniel Igali and Director of Sports, Sir Braveman Wodi for working assiduously in hosting the showpiece.
He affirmed that the cardinal objective of his administration is the pursuit of youth development through initiatives that empower and create jobs as launch pad for national developmental goals.

He said he was elated to witness the maiden edition of the Bayelsa State Sports Festival tagged Access Bank Prosperity Unity Games, saying that State achievement in the sports sector in the last three years was indicative of the doggedness of the Prosperity administration towards sports development.

GRASSROOTS Supremacy Cup Scouting Tournament kick off in Lagos
The No Offside Scouting Tournament will be held at Mobolaji Johnson Arena from March 25th to 28th.
Fabulous Dancing Groups, a musical performance by Jah Wonder, a well-known artist from Bayelsa, and a march past by athletes from the many local government areas of the state were all featured at the opening ceremony.
