Meanwhile, Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso provided an update on Boniface’s recovery from a thigh injury that has sidelined him since late November.
Speaking during a pre-match press conference, Alonso confirmed the Nigerian striker would miss their Bundesliga clash against Borussia Monchengladbach. "His development is good," Alonso noted. "He trained a bit but is not in the squad for Saturday. He needs time to train and get fit."
Boniface has been a standout performer for Leverkusen this season, with six Bundesliga goals to his name before the injury.
