Coleen Rooney has had the last laugh against her rival Rebekah Vardy as the longstanding Wagatha Christie saga reaches its conclusion.
Coleen Rooney, wife of Manchester United icon Wayne Rooney, has broken her silence following the final ruling in her favour in the now-infamous "Wagatha Christie" saga - libel case that pitched her against Rebekah Vardy, wife of Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy.
What began as an explosive Instagram post in 2019, accusing Rebekah’s account of leaking stories to The Sun, snowballed into a high-profile High Court showdown.
Vardy, vehemently denying the allegations, sued for libel in a bid to clear her name.
)
However, in July 2022, Justice Steyn ruled that Coleen’s claims were "substantially true", stating that Vardy “knew of and condoned” her agent Caroline Watt’s role in passing information to the press.
)
While the courtroom door closed nearly three years ago, the legal battle over fees dragged on until this week.
)
In a final twist, a specialist costs court heard that Vardy has agreed to pay £1.19 million of Rooney’s legal expenses — on top of a judge-ordered £212,000.
)
Coleen Rooney, for her part, will also pay Vardy £135,097.50 in costs, which will be deducted from Vardy’s overall bill.

)
Taking to Instagram, Coleen shared an emotional statement as per Goal.
“The ruling yesterday in my favour finally brings this claim to an end, it’s a relief and brings closure for my family and I,” she wrote.
“As I have always maintained, this claim did not need to be made or run for as long as it did.”
Coleen, who has kept largely composed throughout the public ordeal, also thanked her legal team, management, and her supporters.
“I am thankful for the way my family and team have dealt with it. We look forward to moving on with our lives,” she added.

With this chapter closed, eyes now turn to Coleen’s next moves.
After her appearance on I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!, sources close to the family suggest she may be considering further TV opportunities, alongside her close ally Annie Kilner, the estranged wife of Kyle Walker.
The Rooneys are also set to appear in a Disney+ documentary, promising an inside look at their life beyond the headlines.
