Super Eagles star Moses Simon has released a statement regarding the appointment of Eric Chelle as the new Nigerian national team coach.
The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) recently appointed Chelle as the new head coach of the Super Eagles.
Before the appointment of Chelle, Augustine Eguavoen had been acting as interim coach of the Nigerian national team.
The interim coach led the Super Eagles and qualified the team for the 2025 AFCON tournament in Morroco.

According to reports, Super Eagles new head coach Eric Chelle is set to arrive in the country from France for his official unveiling.
Simon posts on social media
Moses Simon became the first Super Eagles player to welcome the newly appointed head coach Chelle.
Taking to his official X account, Moses Simon wrote, “Bienvenue au Nigéria," translating to “Welcome to Nigeria.”
The Super Eagles' quest to earn a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup is currently not going well; after four games, they have lost and are currently ranked fifth in their qualifying group, which also consists of Rwanda, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, and the Benin Republic.
After four matches, the Super Eagles are without a win and sit fifth in their qualification group, which includes Benin Republic, Lesotho, Zimbabwe, South Africa, and Rwanda.
The stakes are higher for Chelle since the World Cup qualifiers have proven to be more difficult.
Simon hopes Chelle can help bring Nigeria's dwindling chances of making it to the FIFA World Cup in 2026 back to life.
