Cristiano Ronaldo's rumoured move to Africa has been put off after Wydad Casablanca's recent denial
African giants Wydad Casablanca have been linked to global superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, however, the rumours appear to be just that.
The Moroccan giants have flatly denied reports suggesting they are chasing the Portuguese icon ahead of this summer’s FIFA Club World Cup.
Ronaldo linked with shock move to Africa
Spanish outlet Marca initially claimed that Wydad Casablanca had set their sights on signing the five-time Ballon d'Or winner for the upcoming Club World Cup in the United States.

The report claimed that the club and player were considering a short-term deal that would see Ronaldo lead Wydad’s attack in a tournament stacked with global heavyweights.
The story quickly gained traction, especially with Ronaldo’s future at Al-Nassr reportedly uncertain and several clubs, ranging from Brazilian giants to Spain’s Almería, showing interest in landing the veteran striker.

Ronaldo is yet to sign a new contract with Al Nassr, despite his current deal ending in the summer of 2025, leading to several clubs being interested in the ex-Manchester United and Real Madrid star.
Wydad deny Ronaldo rumours
Despite the reported interest in Ronaldo ahead of the Club World Cup, Wydad wasted no time putting the brakes on the rumour mill.
)
A source close to Wydad told Reuters that there were no active negotiations, revealing the speculation stemmed from a casual, off-the-record chat between Wydad’s president and an agent with ties to Ronaldo. “It was just a friendly talk,” the source clarified, shooting down any notion of an official bid.
While Wydad may not be rolling out the red carpet for CR7, their attention remains firmly on what lies ahead.

The former African champions are gearing up for a massive Club World Cup campaign where they will face a tough group stage featuring European giants Manchester City and Juventus, as well as UAE side Al-Ain starting June 18.
