Victor Ikpeba calls Super Eagles' AFCON draw 'fair'

Ikpeba expressed confidence in the Super Eagles' ability to progress from the group stage.

Former Nigerian international Victor Ikpeba has described the Super Eagles' draw for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations as "fair."

In Group C, the Super Eagles were drawn alongside 2004 champions Tunisia, Uganda, and Tanzania.

What Ikpeba said

Ikpeba expressed confidence in the Super Eagles' ability to progress from the group stage.

However, he also cautioned against complacency, stressing that all teams should be respected.

"I will take the Super Eagles group as against some of the other first-round groups," Ikpeba told Super Sport.

"It will be difficult because even the so-called small teams have made a lot of progress as we saw at the last AFCON, but we have what it takes to get out of the group," he said.

The Super Eagles lead the group with three AFCON titles, while Tunisia has one and both Uganda and Tanzania have yet to win.

The 2025 AFCON will begin on December 21, with 24 teams aiming for the final on January 18, 2026.
