Despite existing options, Chelsea are reportedly entering the race for a young Brazilian goalkeeper who had a spell with 2025 Champions League finalists Inter Milan.

Chelsea are reportedly open to acquiring another goalkeeper during the upcoming summer transfer window.

While the Blues are focused on their final two crucial matches in the Premier League (against Nottingham Forest) and Conference League (against Real Betis), club officials are simultaneously strategising to enhance their squad for the 2025-26 season.

Brazilian goalkeeper emerges as Chelsea target

Given the number of goalkeepers already on Chelsea's books, pursuing another stopper seemed improbable once the market reopens in June.

However, according to reports from UOL, the Blues are now prepared to compete for a Santos goalkeeper, Gabriel Brazao.

The 24-year-old has registered 19 clean sheets and conceded 56 goals across 54 appearances since joining the club in 2024, having played 31 times in Peixe’s successful campaign to return to Brazil’s top flight.

Before his arrival in February 2024, Brazao had only made 11 first-team outings during stints with Albacete, Real Oviedo and SPAL, none of which were top-flight clubs at the time.

He had previously moved to Inter Milan in June 2019 but never played competitively for the Nerazzurri.

Chelsea have reportedly initiated contact with Santos, a club with whom they have conducted previous transfer dealings, at a time when Porto and Galatasaray are also monitoring Brazao’s progression.

The club have a surfeit of goalkeepers on their books with Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen, while Kepa Arrizabalaga, Mike Penders and Djordje Petrovic are to return this summer.

What’s next for Chelsea?
