Mikel Arteta's Arsenal are reportedly plotting a surprise move to address their lack of attacking firepower.

Arsenal have added a shock name to their list of striker targets for the summer transfer window, according to reports.

Mikel Arteta has made signing a top forward a priority, with talks ongoing for Sporting's Viktor Gyokeres and Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko.

The Gunners also had a £60 million bid for Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins rejected in January, but the 29-year-old remains in their plans.

Chelsea's Nicolas Jackson to Arsenal?

Duncan Castles, speaking on The Transfers Podcast, revealed that Arsenal have Nicolas Jackson on their shortlist, and Chelsea are open to selling the 24-year-old after signing Liam Delap for £30 million from Ipswich Town this month.

Senegalese striker Nicolas Jackson returned to action after four weeks out.

“Viktor Gyokeres has basically told Sporting he’s not going to play or train for them again unless they let him go at the price of €60 million plus €10m in bonuses that was agreed at the end of last season’s transfer window, big fight with the president there,” Castles said.

“He is one of four candidates to be the new striker at Arsenal, including Benjamin Sesko, Ollie Watkins, and a new one, Nicolas Jackson.”

Jackson has scored 30 goals in 80 appearances since his £31.8 million move from Villarreal in 2023 but has faced criticism for inconsistency at Chelsea.

His potential exit could prompt Chelsea to revive their pursuit of Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, who could be a crucial addition for a Premier League title push.

Blues boss Enzo Maresca is unlikely to rely solely on new signing Liam Delap, and while a move for Osimhen will be a game-changer, it would likely require breaking their wage structure to meet his demands.
