Tottenham Hotspur legend Glenn Hoddle has hailed the influence of Damola Ajayi, who scored his first senior goal for Spurs.

Spurs claimed a 3-0 victory over Elfsborg on Thursday night in the Europa League, finishing fourth on the table

Ajayi, who entered the game as a second-half substitute, combined with fellow academy graduate Dane Scarlett to score Tottenham's second goal in the 84th minute with a calm finish.

Spurs avoided the February play-off round thanks to his goal, which helped them guarantee a spot in the round of sixteen.

He said, "Damola Ajayi combines well with Dane Scarlett, he plays the ball and follows it, runs onto the ball and strokes it into the corner.

The former Spurs midfielder also gave credit to Scarlett and Ajayi for changing the game's momentum.

He continued, "These two young players have come on and changed the game for Spurs. And look at the players on the sideline too, they're so pleased for the young kid."

Tottenham had a hard time defeating a strong Elfsborg defence before the youngster's introduction into the game.

Before Ajayi's brilliant finish made the outcome certain, Scarlett ultimately broke the tie in the 70th minute with a header from a Dejan Kulusevski cross.

In stoppage time, Mikey Moore, 17, scored a third goal, making him the youngest English player to score in a major European tournament.
