The former Manchester United star was unimpressed by Arsenal’s quality

A thrilling encounter between Manchester United and Arsenal at Old Trafford ended in a 1-1 draw, but the real drama unfolded after the final whistle.

Following the tense encounter, Red Devils legend Paul Scholes delivered a scathing review of Mikel Arteta’s side.

Arsenal’s title hopes take a massive hit

Heading into the clash, Arsenal were desperate for three points to keep their faint title hopes alive, while Manchester United, under Ruben Amorim, were searching for a statement result.

The hosts took the lead in the first half, forcing Arsenal to chase the game. Martin Odegaard and Leandro Trossard came close, but it took a brilliant strike from Declan Rice to break down André Onana’s resistance in the second half.

Despite a late push for a winner, including David Raya’s stunning stoppage-time save to deny Bruno Fernandes, Arsenal had to settle for a damaging draw, leaving them 15 points behind leaders Liverpool.

With such a massive gap, their title ambitions are now hanging by a thread.

Scholes’ brutal take on Arsenal’s playing style

While Arsenal remain in second place, their performance didn’t impress Paul Scholes, who wasted no time in mocking their approach.

Speaking immediately after the game, the former Red Devils midfielder said, "They’re like a mid-table Spanish LaLiga team with the way they play, but they got no substance.”

Scholes’ former team, Manchester United currently sit 14th in the table, so his words will no doubt have upset Arsenal fans even more thanks to the perceived hypocrisy.

However, with the Gunners now struggling to keep pace with Liverpool, the former midfielder's words might not be too far from the truth.
