Efan Ekoku, a former Nigerian international, was full of praise for Mads Hermansen after denying Cole Palmer from the penalty spot.

Chelsea secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Leicester City in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

During the game, in the 22nd minute, Chelsea's designated penalty taker, Palmer, took a penalty kick after Jadon Sancho was fouled inside the box.

However, Hermansen dove to his right and parried the ball away, stopping the effort and preserving Leicester's hopes of salvaging the game.

Ekoku hails save

The 1994 Africa Cup of Nations-winning striker, who was working as a commentator on the Premier League world feed, described the Danish goalkeeper's save as a combination of instinct and preparation.

He said, "He's got one foot on the line, that's what the Chelsea players are complaining about, or maybe they feel that it's a little bit of gamesmanship from Hermansen.

"Whichever way, that's a terrific stop. In the corner with pace, educated guess if you like or superb homework, I will go with the homework. That's a great stop, not the worst penalty you will see. Palmer's luck remains out.”

Palmer’s poor form continues in the EPL, with the midfielder failing to score for Chelsea for a long time.
