Nigeria's Ademola Lookman was beaten to the award by his Atalanta teammate.

Nigerian forward, Ademola Lookman delivered another impressive performance for Atalanta in the UEFA Champions League but fell short of claiming the Man of the Match award.

Pulse Sports Nigeria reports that his teammate Charles De Ketelaere was named as the standout performer despite Lookman's impactful display, which included a goal and an assist in a 5-0 victory over Sturm Graz on Tuesday night.

It was Belgium’s superstar De Ketelaere who took home the award this time for his all-around contribution to the match.

Lookman came off the bench to score and assist during a dominant second half, showing his ability to change the game.

His goal came after a well-placed pass from De Ketelaere, who also found the back of the net himself in a dominant showing from the Europa League holders. 

UEFA's technical team praised De Ketelaere for his efficiency, noting that he demonstrated excellent positional awareness and passing skills throughout the match.

“As well as his goal and ability to arrive in scoring positions, he was technically very efficient and showed good positional balance and passing awareness," they stated.

While Lookman's performance was celebrated by fans and analysts alike, including football expert Solace Chukwu who described his assist as “a work of art,” it was De Ketelaere's overall impact that earned him the recognition from UEFA.
