The meeting between the NFF and the NSC will be important in determining the direction of the Super Eagles as they gear up for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the National Sports Commission (NSC) will hold an important meeting next week to determine the future of the Super Eagles head coach.

This follows former international Augustine Eguavoen's successful leadership in securing the team's qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Eguavoen stepped in as caretaker coach in September after the NFF was unable to appoint a permanent replacement in time for the qualifiers.

However, opinions are divided on whether the 59-year-old should continue as head coach for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

According to Complete Sports, the NSC is favoring Eguavoen's continued leadership.

"It's a dicey situation at the moment, I must confess. The NFF still wants to go ahead with the appointment of a foreign coach, but they want to sort out the financial aspect before proceeding," the source revealed.

The source further added, "The feelers from the NSC is that they want the present technical crew led by Eguavoen to stay on. To them, bringing in a new coach would not be ideal for the World Cup qualifiers.

"The thinking is the limited time the new coach will have before the Super Eagles next game against the Amavubi of Rwanda."
