Al Nassr are reportedly close to announcing a three-time Portuguese League winner as their new coach.

Al Nassr have reportedly reached an agreement to hire former Al Hilal coach Jorge Jesus as their new gaffer after Cristiano Ronaldo gave his consent to the move.

The Portuguese tactician is a seasoned coach and was most recently in charge of Faris Najd’s biggest rivals, Al Hilal. He left last month, after losing the league title to Al Ittihad, and was replaced by Simone Inzaghi.

The former Sporting coach did not have to remain without work for long, as, according to Fabrizio Romano, he has now reached an agreement to replace Stefano Pioli.

Despite kick-starting the current wave of Saudi splurging on football talents with their acquisition of Cristiano Ronaldo, Al Nassr have had to watch their rivals Al Hilal and Al Ittihad win the league while failing to adequately compete.

Since Ronaldo joined the club, they have had four managers, none of whom have managed to deliver major silverware. However, Jesus is a proven winner, especially in Saudi Arabia, where he has won six trophies, and according to Fabrizio Romano, Ronaldo gave his approval for the deal.

Ronaldo's growing power

Cristiano Ronaldo is not only the face of Al Nassr; he is also well involved in the decision-making process. Pulse Sports relayed a report claiming he made the call to sign Jhon Duran when Faris Najd had an agreement with the Colombian and Victor Boniface.

His power would only increase with his new contract, which offers him even more money and, more importantly, equity in the club.
