Amorim has revealed that he has no regrets for joining United

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has unequivocally stated that he has "no regrets" about taking charge at Old Trafford, despite enduring a challenging start to his tenure.

The Portuguese boss, who succeeded Erik ten Hag in November, admitted that he had fleeting doubts about the timing of his arrival during a particularly difficult period in December.

What Amorim said

Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Amorim acknowledged the team's struggles, having won just six Premier League matches and facing the prospect of their lowest league finish since 1990.

He confessed that during a poor run of form, he briefly considered whether he should have waited until the summer to take the reins.

However, having steered the team to the Europa League semifinals and with results showing some signs of stabilization, the 40-year-old manager affirmed his satisfaction with his decision to join the club mid-season.

"No regrets," Amorim stated firmly when questioned about his feelings on taking the Manchester United job.

He continued, "Not in this moment. If you ask me four months ago, with all the problems, maybe you feel that feeling I should be stronger in saying I will start at the beginning of the season. But today, I had the feeling it is something that is going to help us in the future."

Amorim acknowledged the current frustrations and suffering within the club but expressed optimism for the future.

"We are suffering a lot here. There is a lot of frustration and a lot of suffering but I feel, in this moment, maybe because we are near the end, this is the most important time, maybe, in the next few years.

"We are going to use all the information to prepare better the next few years, so no regrets. I think this [club] is one of the best. This is the top [that] a coach can achieve, so no I have no regrets at all," he added.

With just five Premier League games remaining, Manchester United face the possibility of finishing as low as 17th, their worst league position since relegation in 1974.
