Former Chelsea player excited about the Christopher Nkunku signing compares him with Allan Saint-Maximin.

Ex-Chelsea star Florent Malouda was full of praise for incoming Chelsea player Christopher Nkunku. He believes that the France international is as electric and imaginative as Newcastle's Allan Saint-Maximin and will provide the needed spark to the Blues' attack.

The London club are said to have agreed a pre-arranged deal with the forward last summer to join at the end of the season, and Malouda already believes the signing would be a hit.

What Malouda said

The former Real Madrid midfielder was speaking in a recent interview about Chelsea, whom he played for from 2007-2013.

The retired defensive midfielder appreciated the timing of the Chelsea deal with a player of Nkunku's quality. He thought the former club moved fast and at the right time, as any delay would have seen them risk losing him to other clubs.

Frank Lampard's side have struggled in front of goal for the entirety of the season, and Malouda believes an inventive player like the RB Leipzig star is exactly what they need, comparing him to one of the best dribblers in the Premier League, Allan Saint-Maximin.

“Nkunku is a fully-fledged France international, who left the PSG Academy and made the right decision to move to Germany.”

“I think this is the type of player Chelsea is actually missing, who are hungry and want to prove themselves. The timing was great for Chelsea to get him as there would have been so many clubs looking at him.

“He got a great assist recently and he will bring so much quality to the Premier League, if I had to compare him to anyone, it would be Allan Saint-Maximin.

“He always wants to try things in the final third, he wants to create or shoot for himself and he is not afraid to take risks. Now, it is more about the development of the player and how Chelsea can help him adapt to the Premier League. It’s a very good signing for Chelsea, but no Champions League, so they have to make sure he adapts quickly and gets proper game time.

Meanwhile, speaking with BoyleSports, former Chelsea winger Florent Malouda gave his thoughts on Lukaku's potential return to Chelsea.
