Mascherano sets objective
The Miami-based outfit returned to MLS action in the early hours of today and breezed past Montreal Impact with a dominant 4-1 win. After the game, the former Barcelona defender was clear that they were aiming to return to the playoffs.
“Our motivation now is to compete in our league and to achieve something this club has been aiming for year after year,” he told reporters.
“We want to get as far as we can, qualify for the play-offs, be in position to have home field advantage, and from there we’ll see what happens at the end of October.”

Messi might be rested more
Inter Miami have four league games in hand due to their participation at the Club World Cup. The games are coming thick and fast, and they have six more games to play this month. Mascherano admitted that he will have to rest players.
“Clearly, we have a lot of games coming up, plus all the ones we have already played, so we will need everyone to participate,” he said.
“We’ll see how we can manage some roster changes without feeling it too much because I don’t like to change six or seven players from one match to the other.”
