Inter Miami star Lionel Messi has made history at his new club after helping his team defeat CF Montreal.
Lionel Messi, 37, continues to shine for Inter Miami in the MLS. Early Thursday morning, he scored twice and assisted Luis Suarez, 38, in a 4-2 home victory against CF Montreal.
The former Barcelona star has now scored 8 goals in the current MLS season. With these two goals, Messi's career tally has risen to 863.

With his goals and assists, Messi has become the first player in Inter Miami history to contribute to 50 goals in a regular season (29 goals, 21 assists), as reported by GSP.
Messi opened the scoring in the 27th minute with a shot from outside the box, assisted by Sergio Busquets. This was the only goal of the first half. However, the second half proved much more eventful.

Inter Miami doubled their lead in the 68th minute when Messi dribbled past a defender in the box and delivered a perfect cross to Luis Suarez, who finished with ease. Suarez scored his second goal three minutes later, capitalizing on a defensive error.
CF Montreal pulled one back in the 74th minute, but Lionel Messi restored the three-goal lead in the 87th minute after combining with Luis Suarez. Montreal's midfielder, Loturi, finalised the scoreline in stoppage time.

Inter Miami had recorded two losses and two draws in their previous four matches. "The storm has passed and the sun has risen. We had to end the negative momentum," said coach Javier Mascherano.
Miami, now 6th in the Eastern Conference, hosts Columbus Crew on Saturday in their final match before their Club World Cup debut against Egyptian side Al Ahly on June 14th.
