What Amorim said
Despite Manchester United's struggles and the specific requirements of the new manager's system, the Red Devils brought in wingback Patrick Dorgu from Lecce as the only senior acquisition in the winter transfer window.
The €30 million acquisition for the Italy international was accompanied by budget deals for youngsters Ayden Heaven and Diego Leon.

This consequently affects transfers, and the record Premier League winners cannot spend heavily in any given window without first generating income through sales; Amorim confirmed as much in his pre-match press conference for their clash against Tottenham.
“Here it's simple: to do something we need to sell players,” he said when asked about acquisitions. “You know the rules better than me, so our focus is to win these games and then we have time to focus on that.”
