Italian legend's son joins Ademola Lookman at Atalanta

Atalanta have confirmed the signing of Daniel Maldini from Monza in a deal worth €13m.

The 23-year-old midfielder put pen to paper on a contract that runs until June 2029.

Maldini's transfer fee includes a fixed payment of €10m, with an additional €3m in performance-related bonuses. Notably, half of the transfer fee will go to Maldini's former club, Milan, as part of the sell-on clause agreed upon when he was sold to Monza for €5m.

What Maldini said

"I'm thrilled to join Atalanta and can't wait to get started. I'd like to thank Monza for the opportunity to grow and develop as a player, and I'm grateful for the experience I gained there,” he said.

Maldini's move to Atalanta marks a milestone in his career, which has seen him progress through the youth ranks at Milan, following in the footsteps of his father, Paolo, and grandfather, Cesare.

Meanwhile, Atalanta's sporting director, Giovanni Sartori, expressed his delight at securing Maldini's signature.

He said, "We're extremely pleased to welcome Daniel to Atalanta. He's a talented young player with a lot of potential, and we believe he'll be a valuable addition to our squad."

Maldini has already gained international recognition, earning two senior caps for Italy in October 2024.

He has also accumulated an impressive record in Serie A, scoring 10 goals and providing two assists in 71 appearances.
