Victor Boniface and Gift Orban came second and third respectively in the best African player in Belgium called the Ebony boot award despite the superb form this season.

Gift Orban and Victor Boniface were snubbed in the Ebony boot awards recently held in Belgium for the best African player.

Gent star Mike Tresor who scored eight goals in 37 matches scooped the award while Boniface and Orban came second and third respectively.

Nigerian who have won the Ebony boot award

Paul Onuachu was the last Nigerian to win the award in the past year while playing for Club Brugge where he score 31 league goals. 

The likes of Victor Ikpeba and Daniel Amokachi have also won the Ebony boot while plying their trade with Standard Liege and Brugges respectively.

Orban and Boniface impressive season so far

Gent striker Orban had an impressive season in the Jupiler League and the Europa conference League this season.

The 20-year-old scored has a more impressive season than the trio, scoring 15 goals in 14 matches since January transfer from Norwegian side Stabek.

And despite joining the club midway into the season, Orban nugged up five goals for his side putting him second on the scorers chat.

On the other hand, Boniface also had a decent season with his team Union Saint-Gilloise netting five goals in 37 matches.

The former Bodo Glimt striker also scored six goals in the Europa League before crashing out the competition in the last eight.
