Rwanda coach wants to take advantage of Super Eagles’ sloppy form with the help of their former head coach.

Rwanda's national football team seek to progress from Group C in the 2026 World Cup CAF qualifiers, and are hoping on getting points of the Super Eagles who have been the most underwhelming side in the group.

Rwanda are currently tied with South Africa on points but edging ahead on goal difference.

Torsten Frank Spittler, the head coach of Rwanda, recently opened up on his strategy to bolster their chances of securing a historic World Cup berth by seeking counsel from Gernot Rohr, the former Super Eagles coach.

Rohr, who now manages Benin Republic oversaw his side defeat Nigeria 2-1 in their last World Cup qualifying match to damn the Super Eagles to a four-game winless run.

Speaking with Brila F.M on Saturday, Splitter emphasized the significance of Rohr's recent success with Benin over Nigeria, noting that he would be looking to take a leaf from his book.

The Belgian coach was quoted to have said via The Punch:

“I am very sure we (me and Gernot Rohr) will have a phone call before; it may be two or three, and if he can tell me something, I will be stupid not to take it."

Splitter further expressed confidence in their collaboration, stating, "For that, we will try to be in contact; if possible, we can help each other; for sure, we will do it."

Meanwhile,three-time African champions, Super Eagles, face a formidable challenge as they languish in fifth place with only three points after four matches.

The team suffered a significant setback with a recent loss to Benin, prompting the resignation of coach Finidi George.

The Nigeria Football Federation are reportedly looking to hire an expatriate technical adviser with hopes of reviving their slim chances of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.

Super Eagles will later face Zimbabwe after the crucial fixture against Rwanda with nothing but a win expected in order to avoid missing out on the World Cup for another consecutive edition.
