Tolu Arokodare, Super Eagles striker, disclosed that he was not Anderlecht's primary transfer target and confirmed reports that he had declined offers from the Belgian club twice before signing with KRC Genk.
Arokodare's consistent goal-scoring performances at Valmiera in Latvia attracted the attention of many European clubs, leading to his rise to prominence.
Anderlecht showed interest, but Arokodare chose to join FC Köln in the Bundesliga instead, where he had a disappointing season.
KRC Genk secured the services of the Lagos-born striker in January 2023, reportedly for €5 million. This move came after a successful period in France with SC Amiens, which had rekindled Anderlecht's interest.

Arokodare speaks on Anderlecht interest
Anderlecht attributed their failure to sign the Nigerian player to tensions with his agent, Didier Frenay. However, Arokodare has since refuted this claim.
He told Het Nieuwsblad, via Voetbal Belgie, “I was certainly not Anderlecht’s first choice. They would have let me stay if a striker higher up in the pecking order had taken the bait.”
The Nigerian striker who currently leads the Belgian Pro League in scoring, responded to allegations that he rejected Anderlecht's advances during two separate transfer windows.
Arokodare has caught the eye of major European clubs with his breakout season in Belgium, scoring 18 goals so far.
This impressive performance has put him on the radar of top clubs, even though he wasn't initially Anderlecht's primary target.
