Former Inter coach Jose Mourinho has revealed that he was against the Nerazzurri winning another treble this season
Jose Mourinho has never been shy about tooting his own horn, and the ex-Real Madrid boss recently openly revealed that he was happy that his major achievement at Inter remained unrepeated.
The legendary Portuguese tactician recently admitted he was “worried” Inter might repeat his historic treble-winning feat from 2009/10, but now that the Nerazzurri have fallen short domestically, Mourinho is breathing a little easier.
Mourinho playfully protects treble legacy
Speaking to Sky Sports, Mourinho showed just how protective he is of his place in European football history.

The former Nerazzuri boss said, “I’m going to be very naughty, but very honest. I was worried they could win the treble, because I didn’t want them to win the treble. The treble is mine,” referring to his historic 2009/10 season with Inter, which was the only time an Italian team has claimed a treble.
With Napoli sealing the Serie A title and Bologna lifting the Coppa Italia, Simone Inzaghi’s Inter are now mathematically incapable of matching that iconic season.

That means Mourinho’s legendary run, which included a Champions League final win over Bayern Munich, remains unchallenged and intact. For a coach who thrives on legacy, you can’t blame him for wanting to protect his crown.
Mourinho still rooting for Inter
Now that the treble threat has been eliminated, Mourinho has shifted gears and is firmly backing Inter to win the Champions League.

While he’s happy to see his old club in another final, he has also spared a thought for PSG boss Luis Enrique.
“Now they lost the championship and the Italian cup, I would love them to win the Champions League,” Mourinho said, before adding, “But of course, Luis Enrique’s doing an amazing job in Paris. They lost, let’s say, the number one player, but they rebuilt in a fantastic way.”
Whether Inter lift the trophy or Luis Enrique claims it with PSG, Mourinho can rest assured, knowing that his treble record with the Nerazzuri stands unchallenged in Italian football, at least for another year.
