Gyökeres changes priorities again, now wants Manchester United move

Victor Gyökeres has shifted his priorities again, driven by a strong desire to leave Sporting Lisbon.

It was widely reported that the Swedish forward's preferred destination was Arsenal. Mid-month reports from a Portuguese sports daily suggested Gyökeres's agents had informed Manchester United, also interested in the player, that he wasn't keen on a move to Old Trafford.

However, Arsenal have adopted a wait-and-see approach, reportedly considering both Benjamin Šeško and Gyökeres for their attack, but without submitting a formal offer for either.

Recent reports in the English media, via Sportal, suggest their focus is now primarily on the Slovenian, with Gyökeres shifting his priorities to Man United.

Juventus were also in the mix, but it appears they will settle for free agent Jonathan David. Italian sources suggest Gyökeres rejected the Bianconeri because he's determined to play in the Premier League. Rumours of interest from Liverpool were quickly dismissed by sources close to the club.

Combined with the tension between Gyökeres's camp and Sporting's president, who is holding out for a minimum €80 million transfer fee, the Swede's future remains uncertain.

Determined to leave, he has reportedly threatened to hold out and not report for pre-season training. In light of this, according to the Mirror, Gyökeres has once again prioritised a move to Manchester United and a reunion with his former coach, Ruben Amorim.

However, the Red Devils are unlikely to make a move for Gyökeres anytime soon, even if they decide he's worth the investment. They've already acquired Matheus Cunha and are close to finalising a deal for Bryan Mbeumo, with the combined outlay exceeding £120 million.

Any further major signings would likely require selling players like Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Marcus Rashford, or Jadon Sancho.
