FIFA Club World Cup 2025 Golden Boot Race: 6 Contenders for the Top Scorer Award

The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup is heating up, and while teams fight for the title, there is an exciting race going on for the Golden Boot. With some of the world’s best players competing, the battle to finish as top scorer is just as intense.

Although big names like Ángel Di María and Erling Haaland have been eliminated, they still made an impact. But with more games still to come, the spotlight is now on players whose teams are still in the competition.

Here are six players who could end up winning the Golden Boot at the Club World Cup, listed from the least likely to the strongest contender.

6. Jamal Musiala (Bayern Munich) – 3 Goals

Musiala is a strong contender for the Golden Boot at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025. The Bayern Munich midfielder has three goals in three games and will play against Paris Saint-Germain in the quarterfinals.

However, all of his goals came in the 10-0 drubbing of Auckland in the opening game, and he has yet to find the net since then.

5. Pedro Neto (Chelsea) – 3 Goals

Neto is Chelsea’s top scorer in the tournament with three goals in three games. His sharp movements and excellent decision-making in front of goal have made him a key player for Chelsea.

He found the net in the round of 16 win over Benfica, adding to the two goals he scored during the group stage.

The London side will face Palmeiras in the quarterfinals, giving Neto more chances to increase his tally and making him one to watch in the Golden Boot race.

4. Michael Olise (Bayern Munich) – 3 Goals

Olise netted a fantastic solo finish for Bayern.

Olise is one of the stars of the tournament, as the English-born midfielder has three goals and two assists for Bayern Munich, putting him among the top performers. His creativity and direct play have given Bayern a real boost, and with more matches ahead, Olise is a real contender if he keeps scoring.

3. Marcos Leonardo (Al Hilal) – 3 Goals

The Brazilian striker has made a big statement with Al Hilal, scoring twice in the shocking 4-3 win over Manchester City, a result that has made Al Hilal one of the surprise stories of this year’s competition. He now has three goals in four matches and is heading into a quarterfinal clash against Fluminense.

Leonardo is quick, skilful, and confident, and he plays like a man on a mission. Al Hilal’s strong run so far gives him a real chance to add more goals. If he finds the net again in the quarters and Al Hilal makes it to the semi-finals or even the final, Leonardo could climb straight to the top of the goal charts.

He may not be a household name yet, but this tournament could change that.

2. Kenan Yildiz (Juventus) – 3 Goals

Yildiz has emerged as a key man for Juventus at this year’s tournament. With three goals and one assist in three games, the 20-year-old forward has shown maturity beyond his age. He is clinical in front of goal and continues to be a threat every time Juventus attack.

However, Juventus face tough competition ahead against Real Madrid in the round of 16, and Yildiz must remain consistent if he wants to win the award. Unlike others on the list, he has four games left to play at this time if Juventus makes it to the final. A goal against Madrid will take him joint-top in the tournament.

1. Harry Kane (Bayern Munich) – 3 Goals

The only centre-forward on the list, Kane ranks this high due to his position and precedence. The England striker scored just one goal in the group stage for Bayern Munich, but he added two in the round of 16 victory over Flamengo alongside one assist.

Bayern will face Paris Saint-Germain in the quarterfinals, giving Kane a chance to increase his tally. If he stays consistent, he could go on to win the Golden Boot, especially if Bayern reach the final.

Honourable Mentions

Ángel Di María (Benfica) – 4 Goals (Eliminated)

Di María has had an impressive tournament with four goals in four games. Even though Benfica are now out of the competition, his clinical finishing and experience shone through, and he is currently the tournament’s leading scorer.

He scored three goals in the group stage and one in the knockout loss to Chelsea, but with Benfica eliminated, Di María cannot add to his total, making it unlikely that he wins the Golden Boot unless no one else scores more.
