Former Chelsea and Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has reportedly suffered a home burglary in Los Angeles, with thieves making off with valuables worth nearly €500,000 (₦787 million).

The 2018 World Cup winner, who now plays for LAFC in Major League Soccer, was not at home when the break-in occurred, but his family’s luxury possessions were stolen.
Giroud latest victim of serial burglaries
According to reports from TMZ Sports and L’Equipe, the burglary took place on February 5, 2024, when criminals smashed a window to enter Giroud’s California residence.

His wife, Jennifer Giroud, was the first to report the crime to local police. Among the stolen items were over 10 designer men’s watches and various other luxury possessions.
While the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) has launched an investigation, no arrests have been made so far.

The robbery adds to a growing trend of high-profile burglaries targeting elite athletes in the U.S. Recently, sports superstars such as Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Joe Burrow, Evgeni Malkin, and Luka Doncic have also been victims of similar crimes, prompting FBI warnings about targeted attacks.

Giroud joined LAFC last summer, ending a three-year spell at AC Milan, where he helped the club win Serie A in 2022.
