Super Eagles legend Obafemi Martins proposed a solution for the Nigerian national team's current struggles.
Former Inter Milan star Obafemi Martins believes that lack of cohesion is responsible for the Super Eagles current struggles, despite the host of talent Nigeria has to pick from.
The now-retired 40-year-old, who registered 40 caps with the Super Eagles, in which he scored 18 goals, posited that the current Nigerian national side are a squad of great individuals, but not a great team.

What Martins said
Speaking on the Football Fanstribe show, Martins was asked to highlight the difference between the Super Eagles team he played for and the current crop.
“At that time we had a team, but now, the team is not actually there,” Martins said. “The names are there, but the team is not there.”
“Osimhen as a striker is doing his, Ademola Lookman is doing his, but we need collective team effort. We need to play together. Osimhen can score 100 goals, and if we don't go anywhere, it's like the goals is nothing.”

Super Eagles struggles
Despite boasting of the two players that won the last two CAF POTY awards, Osimhen and Lookman, the Super Eagles are set to miss a second consecutive World Cup after having ran a poor qualifying campaign so far.
During the last international break Osimhen scored three goals across two games; however, Nigeria only managed to win one of those matches, drawing the other, underscoring Obafemi’s point.
