'Best thing' - Ilechukwu reflects on Super Eagles job

The former Plateau United coach and Remo Stas coach, Daniel Ogunmodede, was appointed as assistant coach to Eguovoen as Super Eagles coach.

Fidelis Ilechukwu, the assistant coach for the Super Eagles and current manager of Rangers International, sees his partnership with head coach Austin Eguavoen as a major boost to his coaching career.

The former Plateau United coach and Remo Stas coach, Daniel Ogunmodede, was appointed as assistant coach to Eguovoen as Super Eagles coach.

Ilechukwu revealed his experience in the Super Eagles camp and working with Eguavoen.

"Working with the national team is a big experience, and I'm grateful to be a part of it.

"Coach Eguavoen is a good coach, a mentor, and a father figure. He loves people, and he's a good teacher. I've learned a lot from him, and I'm thankful for the opportunity to work with him," Ilechukwu declared to SportsBoom.

Ilechukwu won the Nigeria Premier Football League with Rangers and described his current role as the best opportunity he's had to work with top-level players and coaches.  

However, his time with the national team seems to hold a special place for him.

He highlighted the importance of building relationships with the national team players and staff, calling it a "huge experience" for him as a coach.

"For me, the national team is one of the best things that has happened to me. It's a big experience, working with the big boys and other top coaches like Eguavoen," Ilechukwu. added.

Ilechukwu started his professional coaching with the defunct Mountain of Fire FC, where he led the team to its historic second place finish.
