Yamal accepts Laureus prize
After Jude Bellingham became the first footballer to be named the Laureaus World Breakthrough of the Year in sports in 2024, Yamal became the second, after he was announced as the winner today.
Given Barcelona's LALIGA fixture against Mallorca tomorrow, the teenager could not make the ceremony, hence, he put out a statement acknowledging the award via a video made on the club's premises, and shared on Instagram.
“Hi everyone,” Lamine said in a clip shared by Laureus. “I'm here with the Laureaus Award, it's really beautiful. Thank you all, because I couldn't have made it without you. I'm really happy about everything happening to me, it's 100% thanks to you. To the Cules, to the national team, let's keep going, come on!”
Meanwhile, Yamal also won the Golden Boy and Kopa trophies. He will be eyeing more in the future, as Barcelona are on course for a treble.
