Barcelona announced on Friday that they have refinanced over 40% of their long-term debt for the Espai Barça project through a €424 million bond issue.

Amid ongoing discussions regarding the club's financial situation and its ability to comply with the 1:1 rule to register Joan Garcia and potentially Nico Williams, Barcelona announced the finalisation of a €424 million bond issue.

This allows the club to refinance a significant portion of the debt associated with the Espai Barça project, even before the men's team's official return to Spotify Camp Nou on August 10th.

The club's official statement, as reported by Sportal, indicates that with the assistance of Goldman Sachs, Barcelona has successfully converted, through the existing financial structure, €424 million of debt used for the construction of the new stadium (originally maturing in 2028) into a new structure with maturities between 2033 and 2050.

“The average cost of the refinanced amount is 5.19%. This operation demonstrates the strong demand that the club generates among financial investors, as well as the positive trend in the organization's financial status, reducing the risk premium by almost half compared to the initial issuance in 2023,” the club stated.

Barcelona commended the steps taken, ensuring a gradual and phased repayment of the debt related to Espai Barça, as well as exceeding the planned refinancing schedule.

The club reiterated that this is further evidence of the recent announcement by the rating agency Morningstar DBRS, which confirmed the change in rating from "stable" to "positive," reflecting Barcelona's financial recovery and its ability to meet its obligations to creditors.
