While the England international is reportedly open to the move, the transfer hinges on several factors, including player exits from Camp Nou and the club’s financial manoeuvring.

Rashford open to Barcelona switch

Rashford’s future at Manchester United has been uncertain in recent weeks, with the forward falling out of favour under manager Ruben Amorim.

The 26-year-old last played for the Red Devils in a Europa League clash against Viktoria Plzen on December 12 and recently confessed that he was ready for a new challenge.

Barcelona has emerged as his preferred destination over other suitors like Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan.

Deco, Barcelona’s sporting director, acknowledged the club's interest after meeting with Rashford’s camp, saying, “We’re fully focused on new contracts now… then if we can bring in other reinforcements, that would always be welcome.

“The coach is happy with the squad we have, so any future decisions will be later,” leaving the door open for a potential transfer.

Borussia Dortmund waiting in the wings for Rashford decision

The Catalan side’s financial situation remains a significant hurdle. Rashford’s hefty £325,000-a-week wages would require Barcelona to offload players like Eric Garcia or Ansu Fati to comply with La Liga’s financial rules.

Despite being on the chopping block, Garcia’s recent Champions League goal in Barcelona's dramatic 5-4 victory over Benfica complicates a potential move away from the club.

While Barcelona appears to be Rashford’s preferred destination, Borussia Dortmund remains a strong contender.

The German club is reportedly exploring a loan move and has the financial capacity to cover the forward’s wages; however, Rashford has yet to give the green light to this alternative.

Despite not officially being placed on the transfer list, United are reportedly open to selling him if a suitable offer arrives during the January window.
