Chelsea legend has revealed that Martinez can't play for the Blues
Former Chelsea defender William Gallas has cast doubt over Emiliano Martinez’s suitability for Chelsea, citing the Argentine goalkeeper’s on-pitch antics and temperament as red flags for a potential move to Stamford Bridge.
What Gallas said
Speaking in an interview with Prime Casino, Gallas didn’t mince words when asked whether the Aston Villa and Argentina No.1 would be a good fit for his former club.

“I don’t know if Emi Martinez would be a good fit for Chelsea. He’s a good goalkeeper. Obviously, he was a key player for Argentina. He’s done well at Aston Villa since he joined them from Arsenal those years ago, but I have to admit, I have some serious doubts,” Gallas said.

Messi now available as a free agent amid exit claims
Lionel Messi has only six months left on Inter Miami contract and is free to negotiate with any club.
Gallas was particularly critical of Martinez’s controversial and animated celebrations, most notably his penalty shootout antics during Argentina’s 2022 World Cup triumph, saying they were unbecoming of a goalkeeper at a top club like Chelsea.
“When I think about his antics, I just don’t think he would be a positive addition to the club. People talk about his personality, his passion—I’m not sure that is a good fit for Chelsea.
“Chelsea need a goalkeeper that is as good as him or maybe better, but with a different profile. Someone that does their job without doing all of the other stuff that Martinez does,” he added.

Messi writes letter to Yamal as 17-year-old prepares to inherit iconic jersey
Barcelona legend Lionel Messi has officially passed the torch to Ballon d'Or favourite Lamine Yamal.
Martinez has developed a reputation as one of the game’s most charismatic and polarising figures. Gallas, however, believes that kind of behaviour crosses the line.
“Name another goalkeeper who grabs his crotch and dances around when he makes a save, one goalkeeper who has done that and played for a big club. You won’t be able to name one," he concluded.
Still, if Chelsea heeds Gallas’ warning, it could open the door for other suitors to land the World Cup winner.
