Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta gave fans a crucial update after their draw against Manchester United.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has provided an update on the injury status of Mikel Arteta, setting an expected return date for the talismanic winger.

The Gunners have had to battle major injury problems this season. Saka was one such case, hurting his hamstring in December last year, and has been out of action since.

Clips and photographs showing Saka with the rest of the squad during their warm weather training camp in Dubai excited fans. However, it has been weeks since, and he has yet to return.

What Arteta said

After the disappointing draw against Manchester United, which put their chances of winning the Premier League beyond reach, Arteta was asked about Saka and the scheduled return date for the British-Nigerian.

The Basque tactician was forthcoming with the information, revealing that the winger is recuperating at the projected pace and that they will reassess his match readiness after the March international break.

"After the international break, let’s see where he (Saka) is,” Arteta told reporters. “His progress is really good, he is really willing—as you can all imagine—so we are positive that in a few weeks hopefully he will be back.”

Meanwhile, he was not as forthcoming when asked about Arsenal's title chances, with the draw against Manchester United pushing the dream further away from reality.

When Arteta was asked weeks ago about their chances, he said they will stay in the fight until it is mathematically impossible to catch Liverpool. His reaction to the question after the draw at Old Trafford appears to be a resignation to fate.
