Onana’s visit to Burkina Faso included sightseeing and a high-profile meet-and-greet with President Traoré, to whom he gifted a signed Manchester United jersey.

While the gesture grabbed headlines, it couldn’t deflect attention from the goalkeeper’s rocky time at Old Trafford.

Since joining from Inter Milan in 2023, the Cameroonian has been under intense scrutiny for his string of costly errors.

Now, speculation is swirling that United may be ready to cut their losses. When asked about his future, Onana did not offer clarity, responding coyly: “Will I leave? I don't know, we'll see.”

Manchester United consider Onana replacement

Rumours continue to gather pace around Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez, who has reportedly emerged as Manchester United’s top target between the sticks.

The Argentine World Cup winner is said to be keen on the switch, though United are waiting to offload Onana before making any official move.

Martinez recently addressed the links while on national duty, stating his focus remains on international football “for now.”

His former coach, Neil Cutler, believes the Argentine goalkeeper is more than ready for the pressures of a “massive club” like United.

With Galatasaray also circling, the clock is ticking, but one thing’s for sure, until Onana’s future is settled, United’s goalkeeper situation is a free-for-all.
